Advantages of Gold Recovery Activated Carbon

1. Extremely high adsorption capacity and efficiency:

Activated carbon has a huge specific surface area (usually more than 1000 square meters/gram) and a well-developed pore structure (especially micropores and mesopores), which provides a large number of adsorption sites for gold cyanide complexes.

It can adsorb gold cyanide complexes from the leachate very efficiently, and the gold adsorption rate is usually very high (up to more than 99%), which can maximize the recovery of gold in the solution.

2. Good selectivity:

Although activated carbon also adsorbs other metal cyanide complexes (such as copper, zinc, nickel, etc.) and organic impurities in the solution, it shows relatively good selective adsorption capacity for gold cyanide complexes under typical cyanide leaching conditions. This means that while adsorbing gold, other impurities are relatively less adsorbed, which is conducive to subsequent gold desorption and refining.

3. Simple operation and mature process:

The carbon-in-slurry method/carbon-in-leach process has been developed for a long time and the technology is mature and reliable.

Activated carbon particles are easy to mix, stir, transport and separate (by screening) with the ore pulp in the reaction tank (adsorption tank). The operation process is relatively intuitive and easy to control.

4. Relatively low cost:

Compared with other adsorbents such as ion exchange resins, the initial purchase cost of activated carbon (especially coconut shell carbon) is generally lower.

Its operation and maintenance costs are also relatively low.

5. Good mechanical strength and wear resistance:

Activated carbon (especially coconut shell carbon) used for gold recovery has been specially treated to have high mechanical strength and wear resistance, and can withstand certain impact and friction during slurry stirring, pumping and screening, reduce pulverization loss and extend service life.
